The Institute on Municipal Finance and Governance (IMFG) today released Forum No. 4, a paper drawing together presentations from its tenth anniversary event, held on January 26, 2015, and available online here.
IMFG is celebrating 10 years of conducting independent research, sparking public debate, and engaging the academic and policy communities around important issues of municipal finance and governance. For this event, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne joined moderator Alan Broadbent and panelists Enid Slack, Richard Bird, and Zack Taylor to look at the past, present, and future of city finance and governance. The new Forum provides a short, readable collection of papers:
- Alan Broadbent (IMFG Chair) describes the origins of the IMFG;
- Enid Slack (IMFG Director) reflects on what has happened in municipal finance over the last decade, and where we go from here;
- Richard Bird (IMFG Senior Fellow and Professor Emeritus, Rotman School of Management) provides a global perspective; and
- Zack Taylor (Assistant Professor, City Studies Program, University of Toronto Scarborough) looks at the future of governance and urban resilience.
