The Infrastructure Funding Gap: How Are Municipalities Managing?
Daniella Dávila Aquije
Infrastructure is essential in enabling cities to deliver services, stimulating the growth of our economy and improving the quality of life in our communities. Yet, in 2007, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities released a report estimating that the municipal infrastructure funding gap was $123 billion. How are cities managing? This seminar explored the infrastructure asset management tools used by municipalities in Canada. IMFG Graduate Fellowship winner Daniella Dávila Aquije profiled the City of Mississauga, and the strategies it has implemented to address the deficit.
