Policy in Place: Models for Federal-Provincial-Municipal Collaboration
The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the importance of cities as partners in implementing and enforcing national and provincial policies, programs, and services. How can federal-provincial-municipal collaboration be improved? What models exist for all three orders government to come together and address shared policy challenges?
This webinar examined these questions by revisiting Canada’s history of successful tri-level agreements between federal, provincial, and municipal governments on issues from homelessness to economic development and infrastructure. Working from his recent IMFG paper, Dr. Neil Bradford showed how these agreements offer a model for a more collaborative form of policymaking that includes all orders of government, including municipalities, and communities.
