An IMFG research paper for the London Finance Commission (LFC) that compares the financing of global cities was publicly released. The LFC was appointed by London Mayor Boris Johnson to assess how to improve the tax and public spending arrangements for the United Kingdom’s capital region. The paper, prepared by IMFG Director Enid Slack, examines how major global cities including New York, Paris, Tokyo, and Madrid are financed, and provides implications for the fiscal autonomy of London.
